Technique Study / Open framework

Build a better
non-alcoholic drink.

A balancing framework for making something complete, not merely removing alcohol from the equation.

This is a working framework, not a formula. Start with a drink you already make, then ask which dimension needs more attention.

Body

Body is weight and persistence. Tea, verjus-style juice, a gentle infusion, or dilution can each change how a drink sits on the palate.

Sweetness

Sweetness should connect rather than cover. Taste for roundness first; a drink may need only enough sweetness to make another note audible.

Acidity

Acidity gives direction. Use it to brighten a flavour, then pause before adding more; the goal is movement, not a sharp edge.

Bitterness

Bitterness can provide a dry finish and make sweetness feel more deliberate. Build in small increments and taste after dilution.

Aroma

Aroma sets expectation before the sip. A peel, herb, spice, or steam can be enough—especially when the liquid itself is quiet.

When a drink feels flat, choose one dimension to adjust. Changing everything at once makes learning harder.
